Here are some ways that you can incorporate reconciliation into your area plans and activities:
Plans and strategies
See if you can make meaningful and actionable links to your area’s objectives and deliverables. Add these to your area plans and strategies.
Cultural immersion training
In your area plans, include requirements and targets for staff to complete cultural immersion training and education.
Incorporate reconciliation into career conversations (as simple as asking “can any of your Work Planning tasks and priorities help support reconciliation? How?”)
Acknowledgement of Country
Include an Acknowledgement of Country at all major events for your area.
When procuring goods or services, support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses by using the Supply Nation business directory where possible.
If your area designs curriculum, incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
If your area communicates to students or staff, include Nyungar words and phrases in communications where possible. Complete the MOOC to learn more.
Dates and events
Explore ways your area can contribute to or participate in significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural dates or events, such as National Reconciliation Week and more
Allocate 20 minutes to your planning day to discuss ways the team can advance reconciliation.
