Development and the donor experience

Development refers to the fundraising activity the Advancement team facilitates for the University. Great donor experience is essential to that activity.

Development

Fundraising activity happens at a faculty level and a university-wide level. We work closely with an area, School or researcher to identify strong fundable opportunities to support student experience, research and projects with positive community-impact outcomes.

The donor experience

In University Advancement, we want each and every one of Curtin’s donors to have an exceptional giving experience. This starts from the moment they display an interest in giving to a Curtin initiative and continues for not only the life cycle of that initial gift, but for all their future gifts. The goal of providing a positive donor experience is to cultivate a mutually beneficial friendship that has a positive impact on Curtin and the community for decades.

Two terms that explain the broad donor journey are:

Cultivation – relationship-building before receiving a donation.

Stewardship – relationship-building after receiving a donation.

Stewardship is the diligent practice of maintaining and strengthening relationships with our supporters after their financial or in-kind gifts have been received. We do this by keeping them informed of the impact their gift creates, ensuring we keep our promises to them, letting them know how valuable their friendship is to us and reciprocating their kindness.

In University Advancement, we have a strong focus on stewardship.

Bequests
