Brief Summary

Amanda is a Senior Fellow of Geography in the School of Built Environment. She researches population demographics and migration, rural and regional development issues and leadership. 

Amanda is an applied researcher and has completed studies on a range of issues related to leadership, regional and rural change, population change and mobility and community adaptation. She is currently involved in research examining the role of leadership and volunteering in promoting sustainable adaptation in rural societies; demographic change and migration in rural places; gender and leadership in science.   

Amanda was a visiting fellow at Oxford University's Institute for Population Ageing. She participated in the Theo Murphy High Flyers Think Tanks in 2012 (on Population) and 2014 (on Climate Change and Human Health) and was a participant in the Inaugural Homeward Bound program (and expedition to Anatartica).  

Amanda is an editor of Geographical Research and member of the GeoView editoral board.

Amanda works at Curtin's Perth campus and acknowledges the Wadjuk Nyungar people as the traditional owners of the land.
