Brief Summary

I am a petrologist investigating fluid driven mineral replacement reactions and seek to apply my research to environmental and economic questions. I graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand (2007, PGDipSci) received a Diplom (~MSc, 2008) in geology from the University of Würzburg, Germany and the PhD at the center for Physics of Geological Processes (PGP) and Department of Geosciences at the University of Oslo, Norway (2012).

Overview

I have been working on the thermochronology of the deep crust beneath Otago (NZ), fluid-induced eclogitization of blueschist and associated trace-element mobilization, and CO2 alteration of ultramafic rocks from hydrothermal to surface weathering conditions. I have been project coordinator of the Carbonate Alteration Footprints (CAF) project at the Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU), at The University of British Columbia – investigating the applicability of stable O and C isotopes in exploration for hydrothermal ore deposits. The project involved calibration of a novel OA-ICOS instrument capable of rapid O and C isotope analysis of sulfide-bearing carbonate samples. At The Institute for Geoscience Research (TIGeR), Curtin University, I am conducting research on hydrothermal alteration of ultramafic, mafic and felsic lithologies with particluar focus on listvenite formation.
