Mrs Lara MackIntosh

Brief Summary

I find the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate architecture students to be a most rewarding experience. I enjoy providing learning experiences that prepare students for entry into professional environments and equip them with the skills needed to respond and lead in a field which is changing rapidly. This is achieved by ensuring a diversity of resources and information delivery and embedding industry and professional specialists in the learning experiences. My participation in a number of professional organisations fosters and develops strong networks within the architectural and allied design professions.  In addition, as part of my practice as an architect and designer of learning spaces, I work with administrators and educators to identify learning and community needs and explore design options. This is supported by my current research in which I am developing a framework for transformative learning experiences within environmental, and more specifically, architectural education to support long term sustainable behaviour. The diverse roles and activities I have undertaken support my interest in a number of ways including developing and supporting architectural education programs from primary to professional levels; the design of learning environments and the relationship between pedagogy and space; and the role of architecture and learning in supporting sustainable behaviour.
