Brief Summary

Linda writes, teaches and coordinates undergraduate and postgraduate units in public health communication, media resource development, media advocacy and health promotion methods. She is also the coordinator of fieldwork placements for health promotion and public health students.

Linda is a member of the unit coordination team (with Curtin's Centre for Aboriginal Studies colleagues) for the large, core interprofessional first year unit: Indigenous Cultures and Health Behaviours.

Linda also undertakes research (and supervises Honours/Masters/PhD student research) in the areas of: health communication media; media impact on health; social marketing; health behaviour change communication; and health promotion in Aboriginal communities.

Employment History

Linda has taught in the School of Public Health at Curtin since 1998. Before coming to health promotion and public health communication, Linda was a speech pathologist for 10 years. She worked in urban and rural community-based programs with children with communication problems, due to developmental delay or disability, in Australia, the UK, Romanian Orphanages and Africa. She then worked as a health promotion practitioner at the WA AIDS Council and Perth Division of General Practice. She keeps in touch with current health promotion initiatives via her ongoing work as a freelance health video maker.
