Brief Summary

Mark is the course coordinator for the BA Fine Art major in the Faculty of Humanities at Curtin University. Mark completed his BA (Social Science) at Edith Cowan University, Perth in 1994, BA (Art) (Honours) in 2006, and MA (Visual Art) in 2007 at Curtin University of Technology, Perth.

Mark Parfitt's practice draws from everyday desires, problems and daily anomalies with an intent to investigate being and doing within ordinary life. Coming from the position of art as action, Parfitt produces autobiographical work in the form of journals, performance and sculpture. Since 2004, he has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions, featured in several institutional and private collections and has attracted the funding of numerous grants, residencies and prizes. Mark is a member of the National Association for Visual Artists (NAVA), Artsource (Artists' Foundation of Western Australia) and a consultant for the City of South Perth Arts Advisory Committee.
