Shaphan has been teaching Geography and Sustainable Development at Curtin University since 2006.

Research Interests

Research interests include; cultural geography, the politics of space and place, geographies of media and communication, critical heritage studies.

Current research project, invited by the Noongar tent embassy, is entitled: Setting up the tent embassy: an analysis of Perth media.

Shaphan is a member of Perth band The Atlas Mountains. The band has produced two albums entitled: Sanskrit Owl (2009) and A Splendid Diagnosis (2011).
