Dr Tim Gourlay is a Research Associate with the Centre for Marine Science and Technology, and Director of Perth Hydro Pty Ltd (www.perthhydro.com). His main areas of interest are ship hydrodynamics and wave mechanics.

Overview

Tim obtained his Honours in Applied Mathematics from the University of Adelaide in 1994. He spent two years sailing around the world, before completing his PhD on shallow-water ship hydrodynamics in 2000. He then spent two years as ship hydrodynamics lecturer at the Australian Maritime College.

Tim moved to CMST in 2002 and has since been working on a variety of ship hydrodynamics projects, including mathematical analysis, software development and full-scale trials.
