A special event held late last year celebrated the 2024 John Curtin Distinguished Professors, recognising their outstanding academic achievements and leadership. During the event, the recipients were presented with special pins to mark their appointment to this prestigious title.

The title of John Curtin Distinguished Professors is the highest accolade awarded to academic staff and acknowledges their significant, sustained contributions to the University, their disciplines and the wider community.

The staff awarded in 2024 were:

  • Professor Mark Buntine
  • Professor Steven Reddy
  • Professor Reena Tiwari
  • Professor Mark Gibberd

The event also recognised two newly appointed John Curtin Distinguished Emeritus Professors: Professor Therese Jefferson former Head of the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, and Professor Zheng-Xiang Li from the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
