Adjunct Professor Michael Broderick featured in international travelling exhibition
Congratulations to Adjunct Professor Michael Broderick, from the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry, on his work in bringing the international travelling exhibition Never Again: The Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition to Perth.
A series of portraits taken by Professor Broderick, titled Global Hibakusha Portraits, will also be featured alongside the exhibition. These portraits are part of his ongoing research on the social and cultural impact of atmospheric nuclear testing around the world. Since 2002, he has been interviewing hibakusha (survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings) and has helped them record, preserve and share their stories.
The exhibition has run since Saturday 10 May and will conclude on Saturday 21 June 2025 at the Holmes à Court Gallery, and marks 80 years since the atomic bombing of the populated Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It aims to present the facts of the bombings, foster international sentiment regarding the abolition of nuclear weapons and generate vital discussion about our shared past, present and future.
Professor Broderick has also curated a mini-film program of four iconic feature films at the nearby Backlot cinema across consecutive Saturday afternoons. More information can be found here.
Once again, a huge congratulations to Professor Broderick for his work and contribution to this profound historical exhibition.
