Associate Professor Samantha Owen contributes to Australia–Vietnam Human Rights Dialogue
Associate Professor Samantha Owen, Director, Gender Equity and Inclusion, was invited to provide a contribution for the 20th Australia–Vietnam Human Rights Dialogue, held in Hanoi on 12 August 2025.
Associate Professor Owen’s submission addressed policies to protect the rights of women and children, ethnic minorities, LGBTQIA+ persons and communities, and persons with disability. She reflected on the importance of continuing to deliver strategic programs such as the Aus4Skills funded Women in Leadership Journey for driving cultural change and for developing inclusive leadership capabilities and providing practical frameworks for implementing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategies across the government sector.
The annual Dialogue, co-chaired by senior representatives from both governments, provides an important forum to strengthen cooperation between Australia and Vietnam on civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights in both countries.
Thank you to Associate Professor Owen for her valued contribution to this important international dialogue. Read more about the Dialogue in the media release by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
