Congratulations to the following eight Curtin researchers who were recently awarded more than $3.5 million in funding by the Australian Research Council (ARC) for their projects under the Discovery Early Career Researcher Award scheme.

  • Dr William Gilmore from the National Drug Research Institute was awarded $465,000 for the project ‘Addressing alcohol use and injury in Australia’s ageing population’.
  • Dr Huan Li from the WA School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering (WASM:MECE) was awarded $468,073 for the project ‘Critical and precious metals recovery from e-waste’.
  • Dr Haoran Zuo from the Centre for Infrastructural Monitoring and Protection was awarded $421,391 for the project ‘Next-generation floating hybrid offshore wind-wave energy conversion system’.
  • Dr Mengbin Ye from the Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science was awarded $454,285 for the project ‘Complex Networks and Systems Theory for the Public Information Environment’.
  • Dr Daqin Guan from WASM:MECE was awarded $462,691 for the project ‘Protonic ceramic fuel cells for operation under <400 °C’.
  • Dr Qiucheng Xu from WASM:MECE was awarded $446,691 for the project ‘Thiol ligands modified Cu catalysts for high-rate CO2 reduction to ethanol’.
  • Dr Yijun Zhong from WASM:MECE was awarded $417,691 for the project ‘High-Voltage Proton Batteries Operating at Ultralow Temperature’.
  • Dr Yongqiang Chen who will be joining WASM:MECE was awarded $438,834 for the project ‘Green Lithium Mining from Granite Reservoirs’.
