Autism and Mental Health MOOC wins research translation award
Curtin’s Autism and Mental Health Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) has won the Translation of Autism Research into Practice at the 2023 Autism CRC Awards for Achievement in Autism Research that was announced last week at the Australasian Society for Autism Research conference in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The MOOC is led by Dr Wenn Lawson, Dr Ben Milbourn, Professor Sonya Girdler and Katherine Browne from the Curtin Autism Research Group (CARG). It was co-produced with autistic adults to empower autistic people and those around them to promote their own good mental health, celebrate their individuality, strengths and skills associated with autism, and to recognise when autistic individuals may need extra support.
The MOOC also recently won the prestigious 2023 edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning at the edX Global Forum in Washington, D.C.
Congratulations to the CARG for their outstanding and impactful work and to the Curtin edX team Patrice Williams, Brendan Ameduri, Nicole David, Blake Treharne and Belinda Lux from the Learning Innovation and Teaching Excellence Centre and all involved in the development of this course.
