On Thursday 25 September, the Perth Urban Research Lab Global Engagement Series, in partnership with the City of Perth, explored the theme of Resilient Urban Futures.

Deputy Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds delivered an opening address and Faculty of Humanities Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Richard Blythe spoke about the importance of building resilient cities.

The event welcomed Robert Adams, Director of Melbourne-based practice Adams Urban, and a panel of national leaders from cities, industry and academia to discuss opportunities and strategies for shaping Perth’s long-term urban future.

The panel included:

  • Ross Donaldson, President AIA WA, Founder EPM Eksperimental, Chairman Bridge42, Adjunct Professor UWA
  • Julian Bolleter, Director of the Australian Urban Design Research Centre (AUDRC), UWA
  • Andrew Howe, Technical Director, SLR Consulting, Urban Designer, Strategist
  • Tanya Trevisan OAM, Director, Tanya Trevisan Consulting.

The event was a tremendous success and created valuable conversations about how Perth can move towards a resilient, sustainable and thriving urban future.
