The School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry (MCASI) recently marked a meaningful milestone by supporting the HeartKids Christmas Present Run, now in its third year. Introduced by Hollie Tran from the MCASI Operations team, the initiative continues to bring comfort to children spending Christmas at Perth Children’s Hospital.

Following the gift collection, MCASI and HeartKids representatives visited the Curtin HIVE to experience Minerva an immersive VR tool and 2025 Curtinnovation Humanities Award winner. Developed with significant input from Dr Michael Ovens and team, Minerva allows users to explore 3D medical imaging in new and intuitive ways, helping deepen understanding of complex heart conditions. The visit sparked important conversations about how immersive technologies can support children, teenagers and adults living with onset heart disease.

Thank you to everyone involved for demonstrating the care, creativity and community spirit that define Curtin.
