Coding with heart: Curtin Mauritius champions tech for wellbeing
Curtin Mauritius recently hosted the second edition of its flagship coding competition, Game of Code, bringing together creativity, collaboration and digital innovation. This year’s theme, Your Human Twist, challenged university students to blend AI with human empathy by co-developing digital companions designed to support student mental health, with a strong emphasis on creativity, emotional intelligence and user experience.
80 students from Curtin Mauritius, the University of Mauritius, the University of Technology Mauritius, Middlesex University Mauritius and Polytechnics Mauritius formed 20 teams for the high-energy, multi-day hackathon. Participants showcased live demos and pitched their ideas to a panel of 18 industry professionals.
Congratulations to this year’s winners:
- 1st Prize – Team Ctrl C Ctrl V, Curtin Mauritius
- 2nd Prize – Team Halal.exe, University of Mauritius
- 3rd Prize – Team Snack Overflow, University of Mauritius
Curtin Mauritius partnered with 13 industry organisations, who supported the event through mentoring, judging and networking with students, further showcasing the competition’s value as a platform for talent discovery and industry engagement.
Game of Code continues to grow as a key initiative in bridging education and industry. Plans for the 2026 edition are already underway, promising even more innovation, creativity and impact. Thank you to everyone involved in making this year’s event such a success.
