Curtin researchers have been recognised in The Australian’s 2026 Research magazine for their leadership and impact across a wide range of disciplines.

As highlighted in a recent Vice-Chancellor’s Note to Staff, the following seven Curtin academics were acknowledged as leaders in their respective fields:

  • John Curtin Distinguished Professor Sharon Parker (Future of Work Institute) – Human Resources and Organizations
  • John Curtin Distinguished Professor Donna Chung (School of Allied Health) – Social Work
  • John Curtin Distinguished Emeritus Professor San Ping Jiang (WA School of Mines) – Electrochemistry
  • Professor Lauren Breen (School of Population Health) – Hospice and Palliative Care
  • Professor Crystal Abidin (School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry) – Communication
  • Professor Sender Dovchin (School of Education) – Foreign Language Learning
  • Adjunct Professor Clive Phillips (Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute) – Veterinary Medicine

A further three Curtin staff members were featured for their research contributions:

  • Professor Kok-Sing Tang (School of Education) for his work on GenAI and its implications for learning and teaching
  • Associate Professor Craig Whitsed (School of Education) for his work on education systems and pedagogy
  • Dr Chun-Kai (Karl) Huang (Centre for Culture and Technology) for his work on bibliometrics and publishing
