Curtin academic’s memoir listed in two prestigious literary awards
Congratulations to Dr Khin Myint, whose book Fragile Creatures: A Memoir has been recognised by two of Australia’s leading literary prizes.
The memoir has been longlisted for the prestigious 2025 Margaret and Colin Roderick Literary Award, for the best Australian book—of any genre—that explores an aspect of Australian life.
It has also been shortlisted for the 2025 Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards, which celebrate excellence in writing and highlight outstanding contributions to Australian literature and culture.
Written as part of Dr Myint’s PhD in Creative Writing at Curtin, Fragile Creatures offers a deeply reflective exploration of family, memory and masculinity and has been praised for its emotional honesty, narrative control and quiet power.
The recognitions are a wonderful achievement – well done Dr Myint!
