Congratulations to the Curtin Carnabys, who claimed the overall champions’ title at the Western Series International Student Challenge, an exciting intervarsity sports competition celebrating international student talent.

Hosted by the University of Western Australia (UWA) on Wednesday 26 March, the event brought together students from Curtin, Edith Cowan University (ECU), and UWA for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie. Hailing from 14 countries, teams competed in badminton, cricket, five-a-side soccer and volleyball.

The 30-student team representing the Curtin Carnabys put on a strong performance, securing second place in soccer and volleyball, then earning gold, silver and fourth-place finishes in badminton. In a show of teamwork, Curtin and UWA joined forces for cricket, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the event.

With only one point separating Curtin and ECU in the final tally, the competition came down to a nail-biting finish, sealing Curtin’s victory as overall champions!

Well done to all who took part, reinforcing Curtin’s vibrant international student community and commitment to inclusivity, engagement and student success.
