Curtin recently welcomed 244 students to campus for the 2025 Year 12 ATAR Economics Conference – a full-day program packed with expert insights, deep dives into core syllabus areas and exam preparation. The students left feeling inspired after hearing about the possibilities of where an economics degree can take you.

The event featured keynote addresses from leading economists, including Paul Bloxham (Chief Economist, HSBC), Joanne Embry (Reserve Bank of Australia) and Steven Kemp (author of the student textbook), offering students a glimpse into the dynamic world of economics beyond the classroom. Highlights included engaging presentations from Professor Gigi Foster (Economist, University of New South Wales, Sydney) on monetary and fiscal policy, and Sally Dawkins (State Director, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) on trade and tariffs.

A special thank you to Dr Andrew Brennan, Professor Felix Chan, Associate Professor Sherry Bawa, Dr Julian Inchauspe, Dr Ranjodh Singh and the Faculty of Business and Law’s Outreach Team for delivering a high-impact, memorable experience and showcasing the School of Economics, Accounting and Finance to the next generation of economists.
