Curtin has joined forces with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia (CCIWA) to launch Defence Nexus – a strategic initiative linking students to career pathways in defence and defence industries across WA.

The program is a collaborative effort between CCIWA and Curtin’s Faculty of Science and Engineering Student Engagement team; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic portfolios through the National Resilience and Security program office; and the Centre for Learning Enterprise and Partnership Engagement (CLEPE).

Defence Nexus goes beyond workforce readiness, placing students at the centre of opportunity, strengthening industry connections and broadening career horizons. Since its launch, the initiative has hosted five events, engaging more than 300 students and nine industry partners, with strong momentum for continued involvement.

This cross-sector partnership exemplifies Curtin’s broader approach to workforce development and reflects the University’s commitment to addressing critical and emerging workforce needs in Western Australia.

Thank you to all who played a key role in bringing this initiative to life. For more information on Defence Nexus, contact Darren Beadle (defencenexus@cciwa.com) or Taylor Clark (CLEPE@curtin.edu.au).
