Curtin deepens ties with Argentina through new mining partnerships
Curtin has signed two new Memoranda of Understanding with Argentina’s Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (UNCuyo) and the Government of Mendoza, paving the way for a five-year collaboration in sustainable mining practices, research and education across borders.
Signed by John Curtin Distinguished Professor Mark Buntine, Head of the WA School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering (WASM: MECE), the agreements will support joint research, academic exchange, curriculum development and student internships. They also open the door to collaborative Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and deeper cultural and institutional ties between Australia and Argentina.
These partnerships were made possible through the support and leadership of Belararox Limited (ASX: BRX), whose Managing Director Arvind Misra played a key role in connecting the parties. A special thank you to John O’Neill, WASM: MECE Director of Industry and Government Engagement, whose strategic coordination was instrumental in aligning stakeholders and institutional priorities.
These partnerships reflect Curtin’s broader mission to deliver global impact through education and research, while supporting responsible and inclusive development across the mining and energy sectors.
