Curtin recently hosted the 25th Biennial Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) Conference, the largest gathering of experts working on Asia in the southern hemisphere. In collaboration with ASAA; the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry; the Faculty of Humanities; and Curtin’s Korea Research Centre of Western Australia, the 2024 conference explored the theme of “Asia Futures: Studies of, in, and with Asia”.

Marking more than 30 years of Asian Studies education and research at Curtin, the conference brought together just over 300 delegates and experts from across the region to our Bentley campus, notably only the third time the conference has been hosted in Western Australia.

The conference featured 234 academic presentations across various disciplines, a captivating welcome reception and a traditional Japanese tsukushi-mai dance performance. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this significant event.
