Curtin researchers take the spotlight at emergency medicine symposium
National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) Director Professor Paul Griffiths recently delivered the opening keynote at the Centre for Clinical Research in Emergency Medicine’s (CCREM) 18th Annual Research Symposium at Royal Perth Hospital in late October.
The audience of emergency department clinical staff and laboratory scientists heard from Professor Griffiths on the topic of ‘New synthetic opioids and other emerging drugs: The international situation and local implications’, which outlined international trends in the availability and use of synthetic substances and local responses to the threat posed to Australia by the recent appearance of highly potent synthetic opioids.
Professor Griffiths was joined on the program by John Curtin Distinguished Professor Lindy Fitzgerald, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, who delivered the second keynote on ‘Understanding mechanisms and predicting outcomes following traumatic brain injury’.
Well done to Professor Griffiths and Professor Fitzgerald for their valuable contributions to this event. Read more about the event on NDRI news.
