Congratulations to Emeritus Professor Garry Allison from the School of Allied Health on contributing his expertise to a national project led by the University of Technology Sydney to improve exercise accessibility for people with spinal cord injuries (SCI).

The collaborative project, recently awarded more than $1.4 million through the Medical Research Future Fund’s (MRFF) Preventive and Public Health Research 2024 Maternal Health and Healthy Lifestyles (Round 3) funding, will provide specialised training to exercise professionals in community gyms and connect them with people living with SCI.

Curtin will host practical Train the Trainer sessions at the Bentley Campus for Sport and Exercise Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology students as the program broadens its reach across Australia. A free online course will also be rolled out nationally within six to nine months.
