Congratulations to the Curtin Tax Clinic for winning an Attorney General’s Community Law Service Award at the at the Law Society of WA Gala Awards.

Presented by the Attorney General the Hon John Quigley MLA, these Awards recognise outstanding pro bono contributions to the Western Australian community. The Curtin Tax Clinic, led by Director Annette Morgan, received the Not-for-Profit award for its dedicated work supporting disadvantaged clients, including those in remote communities and prisoners.

Last year the Clinic successfully helped more than 1,000 taxpayers, while accepting referrals from more than 30 community organisations. It also collaborated with the Department of Justice to service remote indigenous communities at Aboriginal Justice Open Days and visited 13 prisons to help more than 500 prisoners lodge their tax returns.

Earlier this year, the team was honoured with a Universities Australia Shaping Australia Award in the People’s Choice category.
