Curtin team wins INCITE Award
Congratulations to the Healthy Connections team who won the Social Impact category at the recent 33rd Western Australian Information Technology and Telecommunications Alliance (WAITTA) INCITE Awards for their mobile Medi-Kit to support preventative health screening for chronic diseases in remote Indigenous communities.
The Awards, which showcase and celebrate Information Communication Technology innovators in Western Australia, were attended by Healthy Connections’ Academic Lead, Dr Susannah Soon, Professor Andrew Maiorana, Associate Professor Sonny Pham and the Healthy Connections team together with Curtin senior staff including Professor Melinda Fitzgerald, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research; Mark Ogden, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Science and Engineering; Professor Kate Brooks, Head of School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS); John Curtin Distinguished Professor Tele Tan (EECMS); John Curtin Distinguished Professor Andrew Rohl, Faculty of Science and Engineering; John Fitzgerald, Chief Advancement Officer; Rochelle Fleming, Director of Research Partnerships; Chandra Sundareswaran, Director, Centre for Learning Enterprise & Partnership Engagement; and project partner representatives James Stewart, CISCO Program Manager – National Industry Innovation Network, University Partnerships; and Gurpreet Kohli, Optus Director Pre-Sales Enterprise & Mid-Market.
Medi-Kit uses research, innovation and AI to create an integrated virtual healthcare system to meet the unique healthcare needs of the Pilbara community. The project was developed in response to the State Government’s global Challenge to reimagine remote and regional healthcare, with the Challenge winner to be announced in October.
