Curtin’s Screen Arts and Theatre Arts students collaboration: MIND GAMES
Curtin’s Screen Arts and Theatre Arts students live streamed a performance of MIND GAMES earlier this year in a collaboration between the two disciplines.
MIND GAMES, written and directed by Theatre Arts student, Lizzy Ellis, explores the difficulties of mental health struggles.
“Do you hear the chattering in your mind? The fears that whisper in your ears? For Pip, this chattering is an everyday struggle, like having a little devil perched on her shoulder. She craves constant control, lives in fear and is no stranger to the complexities of mental health. So, what would it be like to delve into her mind? Through physical theatre, MIND GAMES is an invitation to experience her world and journey through the tricks and games our minds too often play with us.”
Screen Arts students organised interviews, graphics and the livestream for the play that was performed and produced by Theatre Arts students as part of the Lunchtime Theatre program at Curtin’s Hayman Theatre. The livestreamed performance is available for viewing on YouTube here.
Special thank you to Curtin Theatre Arts staff Associate Professor Leah Mercer, Dr Helen Trenos and Stephen Carr; Screen Arts staff Sally Goldrick, Paul Indaimo, Murray Basham and Austin Russell; Leigh Brennan from Hayman Theatre; and all involved in the livestream production.
