Dr Mustafa Atee presented with Research Australia Discovery Award
Congratulations to Dr Mustafa Atee from Curtin Medical School and The Dementia Centre, HammondCare, who received a Discovery Award at the Research Australia 2024 Health and Medical Research Awards last week.
The award, sponsored by the Victorian Government’s Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, recognises an early career researcher whose work has already made a meaningful impact on the sector.
Dr Atee is a co-inventor of PainChek®, an AI-assisted pain assessment tool using automated facial recognition and analysis, and clinical pain behaviours (such as vocalisations, and movements) to evaluate the presence and intensity of pain in non-verbal adults such as those with cognitive impairment or dementia.
