Early Learning Centre: The small things we do
The Curtin University Early Learning Centre jumped at the opportunity to care for a batch of tadpoles donated by one of our families recently.
With eager anticipation, educators and children delved into the world of tadpole care and growth, sparking a journey of discovery.
Together with the children, the team researched the lifecycle of frogs and how to care for tadpoles. The children have been fascinated watching the tadpoles feed, wriggle and grow, using magnifying glasses to get a closer look.
Keen to pass on their new knowledge, the children have been enthusiastically pulling their parents towards the tank, at pick up and drop off, saying things like “tadpoles turn to frogs!”
Our team seize every opportunity to share this captivating experience with children and their families occasionally caught away from computers, finding themselves drawn to the tank and enjoying the calm it brings.
In these two short weeks, the tadpoles have started growing little legs and everyone at the Centre is excited to see what happens next. It has been rewarding to see that such a small thing has had such a positive impact.
