As part of the Global Scholars Program, 16 nursing students and two staff members from Curtin Perth embarked on an immersive academic and cultural experience at Curtin Mauritius. The visit offered students hands-on learning opportunities, a chance to interact with the local community and valuable insights into healthcare practices in a different socio-cultural setting.

To better understand the broader context of healthcare in Mauritius, students explored the island’s rich history and geography, including visits to museums and historically significant sites.

One of the highlights of the program was a group hike to Le Pouce Mountain. Beyond the physical challenge, the hike fostered teamwork, resilience and peer connection, with the sweeping views and shared sense of achievement leaving a lasting impression on the participants.

A huge thank you to study tour leads and lecturers Ambili Nair and Matt Moroney from the School of Nursing. Special thanks to Curtin Mauritius’ Professor Lina Pelliccione, Pro Vice-Chancellor & President; Yasoda Chedumbaram; Dr Odylle Charoux; and the team for delivering a program that celebrated both academic excellence and cultural exchange.
