Congratulations to the recipients of this year’s Faculty of Humanities Futures Platforms Research Start-Up Grants which provide seed funding for projects that are future-facing and have the potential to become larger and longer-term.

Congratulations to the grant recipients in the following categories:

  • Global Futures: Professor Kit Messham-Muir, Dr Vannessa Hearman, Dr Louise Curham for the project “Future of War Art: Archiving art from war zones in real time”.
  • Indigenous Futures: Dr Michelle Johnston, Dr Helen Trenos, Katie Kumasaka, Associate Professor Graham Gower for the project “Boodjar Neh: A Noongar Pedagogy”.
  • Learning Futures: Associate Professor Stuart Bender, Dr Michael Gray, Dr Paul Gardner, Chris Mewburn for the project “Beyond Replacement: Implications of AI-Misunderstandings for the Future of Education, Work and Creativity”.
  • Sustainable Future: Jonathan Pillai, Professor Karen Murcia, Associate Professor Madeleine Dobson, Simone Daniele for the project “Responsible Development of Technologies for Children: Exploring the Relationships in the Creative Process between Design Empathy and Co-designing for a child-centred Digital Experience”.

The assessment panel commended the quality of the applications and praised the degree of collaboration evident between Schools and disciplines, well done to all.
