The prestigious Australian Imperial Force’s (AIF) Malaya Nursing Scholarship is the official war memorial of the 8th Australian Division and the AIF Malaya. The scholarship fully funds successful candidates so that they can complete the one-year Bachelor of Science (Nursing) Conversion degree at Curtin on a full-time basis.

On Monday, 20 November 2023, scholarship recipient Genevieve Gan was recognised was recognised at a special celebration ceremony held at Curtin’s St Catherine’s College for her recent achievement of completing the conversion degree.

The scholarship recognises and commemorates the help and friendship that was given to the Australian prisoners of war during their captivity by members of the local Malayan and Singaporean community.

Genevieve now returns to Malaysia to continue to work within her community and provide leadership to her peers and colleagues.
