The launch of GLOBETROTTING brought students, staff and partners together to celebrate the global reach and impact of learning at the School of Design and the Built Environment (DBE).

In 2025, DBE students have embraced a wide range of international opportunities including:

  • Participating in 11 study tours
  • Completing 31 international internship projects
  • Undertaking semester exchanges across eight countries
  • Engaging 225 students across 16 countries
  • Collaborating with more than 68 industry and university partners

Notably, 140 of these experiences were supported through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants, along with an additional six students supported through the Destination Australia Cheung Kong Program, a joint initiative between Curtin University and Toyo University, funded by the Department of Education (Australia) and the Cheung Kong Group.

The launch event featured speakers Natasha Hart (Deputy Director, WA State Office, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), Professor Xiaotian Zhang (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Global), Australia Awards student Enguun Odsuren and representatives from the Chinese Consulate-General and Go Global who each highlighted the value of international education and fostering global connections.

Generously supported by Destination Australia, Australia Awards, the New Colombo Plan and Go Global, these opportunities are also made possible by the staff who bring them to life for our students. Thank you to all involved.
