Associate Professor and Chair of Australia-Japan Network for Energy Transition and Critical Materials (AJN-ET&CM), Hussein Znad successfully secured a grant from Japan Science and Technology Agency to visit Waseda University with seven Curtin undergraduate students to participate in the SAKURA Science Program — a short-term invitation program to give aspiring youth opportunities to experience cutting-edge science and technology in Japan.

The students also had the opportunity to participate in the second Curtin – Waseda joint symposium in Tokyo, co-organised by AJN-ET&CM and CVC consortium (Waseda University).

The program included a variety of activities including laboratory and facility tours, presentation contests, cultural experiences, visits to JX HITACHI in Ibaraki, as well as the lithium-ion battery recycling factory (Shibata Science) in Saitama.
