Cultural celebrations nurture Curtin’s youngest community members
The Curtin University Early Learning Centre recently welcomed the Chinese New Year (also known as the Lunar New Year or Moon Festival) with a vibrant celebration shared by children, staff and families.
With many families at the centre from China and across the Asia region, it was a colourful chance to share traditions and build a sense of belonging. Children dressed in cheongsam (a traditional Chinese dress), made lanterns, explored chopsticks and Chinese tableware, engaged in cooking activities, created lanterns and enjoyed a Lion Dance on the big screen.
Through music, food and hands-on activities, the celebration brought culture to life in ways that were both joyful and educational. By sharing traditions from around the world, the Early Learning Centre continued to nurture curiosity, inclusion and a strong sense of belonging for Curtin’s youngest community members.
Thank you to the Early Learning Centre team and to the families sharing their cultures to help make the centre a welcoming and inclusive community.
