Congratulations to the Healthy Connections team, led by Dr Susannah Soon and Professor Andrew Maiorana, who have been named as finalists in The Challenge by Western Australia’s Department of Health.

The Challenge called for an innovative solution to overcome barriers to healthcare delivery in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The team were selected for their Medi-Kit, designed to provide preventative health screening for chronic diseases, addressing critical health concerns faced by remote Indigenous communities.

The winner will be announced at an award ceremony on 10 October in Karratha, hosted by the Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, Minister for Medical Research. The best solution will take home a $5 million prize supported by the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund, Rio Tinto and BHP.

Healthy Connections have also been recognised with an INCITE Award and as finalists in the 2024 Curtinnovation Awards and the 2024 National Australian Industry Association iAwards.
