Helen Hodgson explains how superannuation changes could benefit us all
Professor Helen Hodgson from the Curtin Law School (CLS) has received widespread attention for her recent article published in The Conversation, titled “Soon, your boss will have to pay your wages and super at the same time. Here’s how everyone could benefit.”
Published on Wednesday 14 May 2025, the article has already been read more than 94,000 times – a significant achievement reflecting the relevance and impact of her work.
Professor Hodgson’s article outlines a major upcoming change to superannuation law. From July 2026, employers will be required to pay super at the same time as wages, rather than quarterly. She explains how this reform will benefit employees, particularly young and low-income workers, by reducing unpaid super and improving long-term financial outcomes. The change is also expected to simplify processes and boost compliance for employers.
CLS is extremely proud of the real-world expertise Professor Hodgson provides and the widespread attention her recent article has received. Congratulations, Professor Hodgson!
