John Curtin Distinguished Professor receives German Science Education Research Award
John Curtin Distinguished Professor David Treagust from the School of Education has received the 2024 Ehrenmedaille (Medal of Honor) from the GDCP (Gesellschaft für Didaktik der Chemie und Physik, or Society for Chemistry and Physics Education) at its annual meeting in Frankfurt, Germany.
This prestigious award recognises outstanding contributions to research in the teaching and learning of physics and chemistry. First awarded in 2008 to Professor Treagust’s long-time collaborator Professor Reinders Duit from the University of Kiel, he is the first non-German scholar to receive this honour.
In the past 30 years, Professor Treagust has hosted a dozen German professors and 15 German doctoral students at Curtin for collaborative research, co-authored 38 publications with German colleagues, and presented 17 times at German conferences, including a keynote address.
Congratulations to Professor Treagust on this remarkable achievement.
