On Saturday 10 May, Anne-Marie Murray, Jennifer Yates, Patrice Williams, Elissa McNair and Hamish McNair from the Learning Innovation and Teaching Excellence Centre (LITEC) took part in Darkness Into Light, a global fundraising event that raises awareness for mental health and suicide prevention, remembering those lives lost. Today, more than 150,000 people participate each year, with funds supporting local charitable organisations.

Joined by their pups, Summer and River, the LITEC team walked 5km before dawn alongside approximately 800 others at Sir James Mitchell Park, symbolising the journey from darkness to light as the sun rose behind Perth city. The team’s participation helped raise $1,500 for Headspace and sparked important conversations about mental health.

Congratulations and well done to the team for taking part in this powerful and inspiring event. Thank you also to those who have donated and cheered the team on. There’s still time to support the cause and make a meaningful difference. Visit Darkness into Light – LITEC  before the end of June 2025 to contribute and help the team continue to raise awareness around mental health and hope.
