MCASI farewells Professor Anna Haebich and Mr Darryl Kickett
School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry (MCASI) staff gathered yesterday to celebrate the outstanding contributions of John Curtin Distinguished Professor Anna Haebich and Mr Darryl Kickett, who are retiring after decades of service to Curtin and the wider community.
Professor Haebich first joined Curtin in 1990 as Aboriginal Art Project Coordinator and went on to hold roles including Visiting Senior Research Fellow, various sessional appointments and Adjunct positions in both the Department of Art and the Centre for Human Rights. She was awarded the title of John Curtin Distinguished Professor in 2011 in recognition of her exceptional scholarship and leadership.
Mr Kickett commenced at Curtin in 1988 as Head of the Centre for Aboriginal Studies. He later contributed as a Lecturer, Community Engagement Officer and Discovery Indigenous Senior Research Fellow, as well as through multiple sessional roles. His commitment to Aboriginal education and community partnerships has had a lasting impact.
We thank Anna and Darryl for their remarkable dedication and wish them both a fulfilling retirement!
