National registry for Haemochromatosis launched in Federal Parliament
Congratulations to Professor John Olynyk, Associate Dean of Curtin Medical School, who played a leading role in establishing the new national patient registry for Haemochromatosis, which was launched in Federal Parliament this week.
This innovative cloud-based registry will catalogue data from various medical disciplines involved in treating haemochromatosis patients. By providing crucial health outcome data, it can monitor patient needs, identify emerging health issues and significantly enhance the lives of an estimated 100,000 Australians living with this genetic disorder.
The registry is a collaborative project between Curtin, Haemochromatosis Australia, QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Edith Cowan University and the Queensland University of Technology, with support from Australian Red Cross Lifeblood and Hunter Medical Research Institute.
