Congratulations to the National Resilience and Security (NRAS) Program Office who recently celebrated their official inauguration. NRAS is a landmark initiative marking Curtin’s pivotal role in advancing new technologies, research and sovereign capability, developing vital workforce and talent pipelines for defence and national security sectors.

Led by Chief Security Officer and Director Defence and Space Gary Hale, the NRAS office will serve as a central hub for external engagement, effectively translating resilience and security needs while showcasing the value of investments in our University. The team also includes Anantha Venugopal, Toff Idrus, Christopher Butler, Thomas Marchant and Meegan Truong.

The official NRAS inauguration event, held at Curtin St Georges Terrace was well attended by Curtin staff and stakeholders from the WA community including Senior Defence Officer, Commodore Ivan Ingham AM, British Consul General Maria Rennie and Deputy Director General of Industry, Science and Innovation Linda Dawson.

The NRAS team would like to acknowledge and thank Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research Professor Melinda Fitzgerald, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Professor Paul Brunton, Pro Vice-Chancellor Science and Engineering, Professor Mark Ogden, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Humanities Professor Richard Blythe, Chief Strategy Officer Dr Marco Schultheis and Head of School, School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences Dr Kate Brooks, who have been pivotal in driving this initiative forward.
