Four of Curtin’s brightest undergraduate students have been celebrated at a prestigious scholarship gala in Canberra, hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Lloyd Allen, Elliott Mitchell, Julian Tearney and Jasmine Trinh were awarded prestigious New Colombo Plan (NCP) scholarships, enabling them to live, study and undertake internships while immersing themselves in the language and culture of host countries across the Indo-Pacific region.

Curtin Scholarships Manager Mykaela Ballantyne attended the 2025 Scholarship Evening Reception in early February at Old Parliament House, supporting the students as they connected with NCP alumni, DFAT officials, diplomatic representatives and industry leaders. The Hon Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the Hon Tim Watts MP, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, also attended, congratulating the new cohort and reaffirming the Australian Government’s commitment to strengthening regional ties through education and exchange.

Special thanks to Mrs Ballantyne for her support and ongoing work in facilitating scholarship opportunities. Read more about the NCP Scholars and their projects in our media release.
