The Curtin Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) Project hosted its seventh biennial Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships Symposium on 24 October, bringing together more than 180 professionals from schools, universities, community organisations and government agencies across Australia.

Funded by the WA Department of Health’s Sexual Health and Blood-borne Virus Program, the long-running RSE Project supports in-service teachers through professional learning, tailored school programs and a dedicated Curtin unit for pre-service teachers – one of only two in Australia focused on this topic.

This year’s Symposium featured keynote presentations from Professor Melissa Kang (known as Dolly Doctor from 1993–2016) and Curtin graduate Daniel Principe, youth advocate and educator. Four outstanding Western Australian teachers were also recognised with RSE Awards and a panel of educators shared practical approaches to implementing a whole-school model of RSE.

Thank you to all staff involved in delivering this engaging and impactful event which was one of the most well-attended in recent years, attracting participants and presenters from nearly every state and territory in Australia.
