Social Impact Hub successfully launches first Design Jam event to shape inclusive futures for LGBTQIA+ youth
Curtin’s Social Impact Hub recently hosted its first Design Jam, a collaborative event for students to turn ideas into action. This session asked students to co-design safer, more inclusive and accessible spaces and experiences for LGBTQIA+ youth to thrive.
Students worked in teams to put theory into practice, tackling real-world challenges to provide meaningful, real-world solutions. They also connected with industry experts and mentors, enabling them to grow their skills in leadership, teamwork, communication and innovation.
Beyond gaining hands-on experience in co-design, critical thinking and advocacy, the Design Jam encouraged students to explore what it means to create environments where LGBTQIA+ young people feel seen, supported and celebrated.
Thank you to everyone involved in the success of the first-ever Design Jam, including the Social Impact team, the Town of Victoria Park, the Victoria Park Youth Pride Reference Group, WAAC, WA Youth Pride Network and Curtin’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging team.
