Congratulations to Professors Amy Tian and Jane Coffey from the School of Management and Marketing, along with Dr Tien Nguyen from Curtin Singapore, successfully concluded the “Public Sector and International Affairs Strategic Leadership Certificate” Australia Awards short course, in Hà Nội, Vietnam on 24 May.

The short course was delivered by the Vietnam Australia Centre (VAC) and this joint initiative of the governments of Vietnam and Australia was funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

This course enhanced participants’ core leadership competencies and styles while supporting their application of new knowledge and skills in their daily work.

The 20 participants included mid-level leaders from Vietnam’s External Relations Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Government and Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, together with senior leaders from Bac Ninh’s Department of Science and Technology and Provincial Political Schools in Hai Duong, Lao Cai, Ninh Thuan and Son La.

Over the eight-month course, delivered in both Vietnam and Australia, the participants developed and implemented application projects in various topics such as digital transformation, human resource and leadership capability development, diversity and inclusion, environmental protection and carbon markets.

These projects align strategically with Vietnam’s Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025) and the Vietnam – United Nations strategic framework for sustainable development (2022-2026).

Vietnam’s Office of the Government featured an article about the graduation ceremony, which also appeared on Vietnam’s national television and the Ho Chi Minh Academy of Politics news portal.
