Students lead the way in ‘ReconciliAction’ challenge
Curtin recently hosted the 2025 Indigenous Futures ‘ReconciliAction’ Challenge, a powerful week-long learning experience that culminated in a student-led showcase. Now in its second year, the Challenge invited students from diverse disciplines to respond to the question posed in the wake of the 2023 referendum: “The Country said No, so Now What?”
Led by Associate Professor Mandy Downing, Dean of Indigenous Futures in the Faculty of Humanities, the program encouraged students to move beyond seeking answers to focus on bold, inclusive and transformative action. Guided by community Elders, academic mentors, and industry professionals, students engaged in Indigenous-led pedagogies such as yarning circles, deep listening (dadirri) and reflective practice.
The Challenge reflects Curtin’s ongoing commitment to embedding Indigenous knowledges and leadership in its learning environments and reinforces the University’s role in shaping socially responsible graduates.
Congratulations to the students, staff, community partners and contributors who made this week a compelling example of reconciliation in action. Read more in the article here.
