The Students Mentoring Staff program wrapped up for Semester 2 with a morning tea and presentations celebrating the experiences of 27 students and 27 staff from Student Life and Community (SLaC) and the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE).

Run each semester by the Students as Partners (SaP) team, the initiative provides a friendly environment for students and staff to form meaningful one-to-one relationships to share perspectives and experiences. Students take the role of mentor and expert in the student experience, enabling active participation in university decision-making whilst providing staff with firsthand perspectives and voices.

Adding to the celebrations, the program was named a finalist in the Student Voice Australasia Awards for Student–Staff Partnership Impact, recognising its innovation and commitment to amplifying student voices.

Congratulations to Libby Kinna (Coordinator, Students as Partners), and thank you to Marc Stoitis (Director, Student Engagement, FSE), Daniel Southam (Dean, Learning and Teaching, FSE), and Linda Adnyana (Director, SLaC) for their ongoing support. Special thanks also to all staff and students who gave their time to participate in this semester’s initiative.
